This course includes the gross morphological and microscopic impacts of diabetes on the placenta. The study describes the procedures used in placental tissue preparation and the various histologic and immunohistochemical studies employed. Distinct changes in placentas from diabetic mothers were compared to placentas of non-diabetic mothers and discussion of the results with photomicrographs are detailed.
